St. Francis School, Indirapuram celebrated its Sports Day on Saturday, November 24, 2018, in the Commonwealth Games Village Sports Complex, Delhi with great zeal, excitement, vibrancy and elation. The event was presided by the Chief Guest, Dr. U. N. B. Rao, a retired IPS officer and a Doctorate from IIT Delhi, seven Guests of Honour, Ms. Pooja Kadian, an Arjuna Awardee in Wushu, Mr. Ashok Dhyan Chand - a legendary hockey player, Wing Commander Bornali Gogoi, Group Captain, Ajit Singh Dham, Dr. Maharishi Mudgal Dev, a special advisor to the President of India for Higher Education and the Chairman of the school, Rev. Brother Julius George. The programme began with a prayer song by the school choir followed by the formal welcome of the dignitaries and the august gathering by the Director, Rev. Bro. Dr. Laurence Abraham and auspicious lighting of the torch. The Chief Guest hoisted the national flag, took the salute of the March Past from the cadets of the four houses and declared the meet open. The Sports Day was inaugurated by releasing the tricolour balloons and the doves – the school mascot for the Sports Day which symbolise peace and liberty. The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the oath being administered by the Head Girl. The most enthralling aspect of the sports day - Track and Field events involving mass student participation started with approximately 220 students of classes I to XII competing in events including sprints, relays, obstacle race, steeple chase, Fifa Race, High Jump, Trampoline, etc. As the budding athletes of St. Francis School, Indirapuram ran for the finishing line, the stadium reverberated with enthusiastic cheers from the spectators The students mesmerised the audience with their energetic performances like Band Drill, Taekwondo Drill, Yog Sadhna, Inspirational Songs and the sequence of dance performances in the Grand Finale.
